Heat-transfer label materials: the preferred solution for printing and die-cutting manufacturers.

    2026/03/03

In the printing and die-cutting industry, the selection of label materials directly impacts product quality and customer satisfaction. Traditional labels often suffer from issues such as adhesive residue and poor print quality, which frequently pose significant challenges for businesses.

Removable thermosensitive label material is a specialized labeling material that combines thermosensitive color-development technology with removable adhesive properties, and is widely used in logistics, retail, healthcare, and industrial applications. Its core structure consists of three layers: a substrate layer (typically made of high-tensile synthetic paper or film), a thermosensitive color-development coating (containing colorless dyes and a developer that produce stable images and text upon heating), and a removable adhesive layer (formulated to enable residue-free removal). This material offers the convenience of thermal printing and the flexibility of removable labels: it enables rapid image formation without the need for a ribbon, and leaves no adhesive residue after removal, making it ideal for applications that require frequent label changes or temporary identification.

For printing and die-cutting facilities, the optimal solution must focus on material performance and process compatibility. First, the substrate should be a weather-resistant synthetic paper or PET film to ensure stability across a temperature range of −20°C to 60°C while meeting the stiffness requirements of the die-cutting process. Second, the adhesive layer should be formulated with low initial tack and high holding power, allowing for removable adhesion that firmly bonds to metal, plastic, and other surfaces yet can be peeled off manually or mechanically without damage. In addition, the thermal-sensitive coating must comply with QB/T 2827-2017, with a color density of ≥1.0, to guarantee print clarity. From a process perspective, it is recommended to use rotary die-cutting in combination with high-precision slitting equipment to achieve precise cutting of narrow-label formats, thereby minimizing edge and corner waste. By optimizing both the material formulation and process parameters, the applicability and production efficiency of labels can be significantly enhanced.
